Effect of sunlight on three stratifications of waste water from a waste stabilization pond

Experimental studies on stratification were conducted a waste stabilization pond system at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Nigeria. This was done to ascertain effect due sunlight parameters. An experimental approach adopted which involved pouring wastewater into glass column apparatus and exposing for 7, 14, 21 days. The statues 16 physicochemical microbiological parameters investigated in three strata under consideration. Analysis samples collected depths A, B C, 30cm apart, starting from top indicated different values temperature, pH, nutrients. Maximum temperature (32.9 0C), pH (7.9), turbidity (3.46 NTU), iron (1.86 mg/l), recorded layer; while concentration conductivity (906 μS/cm), total dissolved solids (589 BOD5 (400mg/l), ammonia (290 coliform (126,000 cfu/100ml), E. Coli (99,000 cfu/100ml) highest bottom layer. Conductivity, solids, turbidity, iron, phosphorus nitrates fell within World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines. A combination with high oxygen concentrations is needed have very significant effects. It recommended that WSPs be designed consideration given dimensions will provide wider surface area sufficient acquired.
